It's just not that simple but

It's just not that simple but it's your paper to set Obama up as a pinata if you must. Here is a more balanced view http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/worldviews/wp/2013/08/29/9-questions... As much as we don't like Baathist regimes (Iraq and Syria) break them and the country is broken. We were happy to use Assad's cooperation for renditions, and CIA based operations in the past but now there is a legitimate rebellion against Assad brutality that has been co-opted by foreign fighters wanting Syria as part of a Caliphate-of-the-future there is no representatives on the rebel side to negotiate with. According to John Kerry some ME regimes have offered to pay us to "regime change" Syria. Is that what we are now? Mercenaries for the 1% Arab despots? Why are we still selling cluster bombs to Saudi Arabia and criticizing Russia for pouring arms into Syria? http://www.defense.gov/contracts/contract.aspx?contractid=5116 when cluster bombs are also indiscriminate killers of civilains. http://killerapps.foreignpolicy.com/posts/2013/08/22/us_shipping_thousan... There are no easy answers and blaming one person is always easier in a situation where a problem has no easy "solution" That's how we got in this mess in the first place, underestimating consequences of interventions. I'm liking what the Pope is saying.

Amen !!! I am willing to bet

Amen !!! I am willing to bet that Assad has not been on vacation or playing golf the past week. Without question Obama has made the US look weak in the eyes of the world. I guess what scares me the most is that Obama is backing himself in a corner and he could act out out of desperation. These chemical weapons have been moved many times already and certainly are being moved again. I do not know whether or not we should get involved using our military. However IF we do go in do it hard and leave no doubt to the rest of the world that we are still a strong nation. Doing anything less will be a total waste in many ways.
