CHURCH

An Evening with the Shroud of Turin on Wednesday, April 3 at 6:30 pm. at St. Mary’s Hall, Wyalusing, adjacent to the church on 245 State St. (Rt. 6). The Shroud of Turin is the most important relic that Christianity has because it is the actual burial shroud of Jesus Christ. It bears marks that prove the passion, crucifixion and the resurrection of our Lord. Alex Piechocki from Towanda will display his actual scale replica of the Shroud and tell the story of the Shroud. All are welcome and you need not be a Catholic to attend.

CLASSES

Craft Class on the 4th Tuesday of each month at the Laceyville Public Library at 1:30 p.m. Our teacher is Teresa Brewer. Call the library at 570-869-1958 for further information.

Break out of the winter blahs with a Ballroom Dance Class featuring the Waltz. The class will be held Fridays, April 5 and 12 from 6:30-7:30 p.m. in the dance studio on Main Street, Wyalusing. It is on the second floor above Paige’s Place. Entrance is at the back of the building. This class is for teens and adults. Dance instructor is Melissa Smith of Melissa’s Ballroom School of Dance. Painting with Bonnie Bell Hilfiger on Saturday, April 13 from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. in the TW room of the Wyalusing Community Corp. Lenten Fish Dinners: Friday, March 29 and April 12. Served from 4-7 p.m. in St. Basil Hall, Dushore, PA. Adults $10, children 6 to 12, $4 and under 6 eat free. Everyone welcome. Takeouts available. Dinner includes baked fish, macaroni and cheese, stewed tomatoes, coleslaw, applesauce, dinner roll, beverage and homemade dessert. Proceeds benefit local charity activities. The Wysox Sewing Society will hold their monthly dinner on Tuesday, April 9 in Ferguson Hall of the Wysox Presbyterian Church, Rt. 187N, Wysox. Ham loaf will be featured on the menu with mashed potatoes, gravy, coleslaw, assorted vegetables, gelatin salads and a delicious variety of homemade pies. Everyone is welcome. Representatives from the Apprise program are available year-round at the B/S/S/T Area Agency on Aging, Inc. office in Towanda to counsel individuals regarding Medicare, Medicaid, Advantage Plans, Medigap/Supplement, prescription plans, PA PACE program, numerous medical insurance and prescription drug eligibility programs and assistance with the completion of various medical forms and applications. HUNTERS SAFETY COURSE

A hunters safety course will be held on Saturday, March 30 and Sunday, March 31 at the Tri County Sports Club, Silvara. This is for first time hunters and trappers and is necessary to complete in order to purchase a license. Classes both days run from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. There is no fee charged for the class. Friends of Salt Springs Park, Inc.: Upcoming events at the park in Franklin Forks, PA are “Chainsaw Day” Saturday, April 13 at 9 a.m. Volunteers needed! On the first day, we make firewood out of dead and downed trees and tackle some of the bigger clean-up jobs. Bring chainsaws and trucks if you can. “Trail Day” on Saturday, April 27 at 11 a.m. is volunteer clean-up day at the Park. We’ll tackle everything from leaves to logs and dust to trail debris. Free food and T-shirts for all volunteers.

Fifth Annual Spelling Bee: Presented by the Bradford County Library System. Register to participate in one of three age groups starting March 1st at any one of the 9 libraries. Age Groups: 10-14, 15- 18 and 19 and up. First round will take place Saturday, March 23 at your local library. Finals to be held Saturday, April 13 at the American Legion in Towanda. Prizes awarded. RAFFLE

Upcoming Raffle: to Punta Cana. The GWCC is selling raffle tickets for an allinclusive trip for two to Punta Cana. The trip includes a seven night stay at the luxury Majestic Elegance Resort. Airfare from Philadelphia, all transfer fees, meals, entertainment and taxes are included. Travel arrangements will be handled through The Travel Shoppe and are based on availability. Tickets are $50 each, drawing date Thursday, April 18. Tickets can be purchased at the following GWCC member businesses: the Rocket-Courier, Grovedale Winery and the Towanda Gun Club.

SEMINARS

Scams Seminar on Tuesday, April 16 at 10:30 a.m. at the Towanda Terrace, 428 Main Street in Towanda. It will host Michelle Nutter, Education and Outreach Coordinator with the Attorney General’s Office. This program is offered by B/S/S/T Area Agency on Aging, Inc. and is free and open to adults age 60 and older. Lunch will be served following the program.
